The 2013 Brazilian Cup will be the 25th edition of this Brazilian Football Competition organized by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF). It will be the first disputed with the new regulation announced by the then president of CBF Ricardo Teixeira in 2011, with the participation of teams that will compete for Libertadores of the same year. Thus, this edition will feature 86 participants.

The tournament will no longer be semi -annual, being played between April 3 and November 27.

The classifieds for the 2013 South American Cup will be defined between eliminated until the third phase of the Brazilian Cup. The 8 clubs eliminated until that phase were among the best in the 2012 Brazilian Football Championship will be nominated for the South American competition.

If the 16 best Serie A teams are not enough to complete the eight vacancies, the top four in Serie B will complete the vacancies. If it is still not enough, the clubs in Serie A will be invited.
