DLD (previously known as Dilddo), is a Mexican rock band from Naucalpan de Juárez, State of Mexico formed in November 1998.
Training (1998-2006)
Dilddo was formed at the end of 1998 in Satellite City. But it was not until 2002 when Dilddo captured the attention of the specialized media and the music industry, after getting the 2nd place in the contest “Trace of Bands 2003”, organized by a rock radio station in Mexico City. Dilddo caught the attention of several record companies, achieving his first contract with an independent rock company from Mexico.
His homonymous album that was well received by people and by the press; Dildo (as they called themselves) began to perform concerts throughout the Mexican Republic alternating with the most popular groups of the Spanish -speaking rock scene.
In 2005 they presented their second album, included five unpublished songs, nine of the first album recorded live and all the videos that already had that moment. The band for the first time played outside the country on a tour that covered more than 14 dates in the United States, including a show as stellar in the Los Angeles Roxy, a legendary scenario that has had personalities like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa and David Bowie.
They participated in the 2006 edition of the “Rock al Park” festival in Colombia, only three Mexican groups led the poster: Jaguares, Nortec and DLD. They also participated for the second time at the Vive Latino festival, here more than 20,000 people attended.
Ventura (2007)
They began to appear as one of the most fruitful independent bands for their interesting shows record in Mexico and abroad. In 2007 they present their third album Ventura, a project whose concept simulates a road trip.
At this time the band decides to abbreviate Dildo's name to DLD to avoid legal problems and at the same time not offend the susceptibility of people who felt the word very strong.
Above (2009)
In 2009, already as DLD, they throw the album above and present it live with a rampant sold-out.
Due to their growing popularity, they have been invited to various festivals such as "Rock al Park" of Colombia, "Quilmes" in Argentina and on multiple occasions to the "Vive Latino" of Mexico. They won the 2010 Telehit Award as “Best Rock Band” .1
Primary (2012-present)
2012 marked a new stage in DLD's career since Sony Music convinced them to get out of independence to consolidate them with a new study album that bears the primary name.
For their official presentation, they held a concert on January 25, 2013 at the National Auditorium.
In 2013 they received the Gold Disc for Sales in Mexico and in the Latin Grammy of that year, the Latin Academy of the recording recognizes the theme "Everything counts" by nominating it as "Best Rock Song" and also primary is nominated in the category "Best Pop/Rock album". The group participates in the second tribute to José José with a version of the classic "My life" .2
