In the 2015–2016 season, The Joffrey Ballet will show that music and human movement are inseparable. We will present works either created with or inspired by amazing music. Every performance will feature Chicago Philharmonic musicians. Our Music Director Scott Speck said it best, “That’s when the indescribable alchemy of movement and music takes place. That’s when the magic happens.”

The music spans more than a century. Léo Delibes wrote the magnificent score for Sylvia in 1876. Shinji Eshima created the score for RAkU in 2011. Both pieces were written for dance, and we cannot imagine one without the other. With great ballet, the music and dance live as one, greater than the sum of their parts.

This is a season of premieres. We have four world premieres from young choreographers. We welcome choreographer and native son John Neumeier and are honored to present the American premiere of Sylvia. Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella returns to the Joffrey in April 2016. This ballet was a favorite of our founder, Robert Joffrey.

2016 marks the 60th anniversary of The Joffrey Ballet. We invite you to join us for this season of celebration.

Let the music move you!
